整合 INTEGRATION

基地座落於基隆港區主要計畫範圍的最末端,也是山與海相會的位置。無論從歷史、氣候、或是當地居民的風俗習慣來看,基隆做為一個門戶角色的城市,無可避免地要充分利用她的外部空間。也因此,我們認為,與其將這個案子設計成一棟獨立的建築體加上開放空間,不如更積極地,用建築自身來產生與架構所屬的開放空間。.此設計的獨特型態是以海港和水為架構界定出與周邊的關係,同時利用地面層的廣場連接了旅運中心.本建築的型態及光影表現,不管是乘船來到台灣或從基隆市來到此,都可體驗到其戲劇性的入口意象。

The site is located at the very end of Keelung’s harbor master plan, where the mountain meets the sea. Keelung is a gateway that through its history, climate and the customs of its inhabitants, is predestined to make use of its exterior space. For this reason, we decided instead of planning the building as an independent object within an open space, we would propose buildings that will generate and structure this open space. The design frames the harbor and the water beyond with an asymmetrical tower defining the northern perimeter of the facility, connected to the terminal by plazas at the ground and concourse levels. The project form, together with the lighting, aims to provide a dramatic entry experience to Taiwan from both the sea and the city of Keelung.

基隆新海港大樓連結了綠色城鎮中的公共休閒場所和濱水區。海港大樓在沿海地帶設置了連貫性的開放空間,其大廳的中空設計形成了一個既是建築物也是景觀的空間結構。如此一來,則可在不破壞自然環境下開發都市,並設置更多的公共休閒空間。透過這樣的手法拉近了市中心居民與基隆海港及濱水區的距離。

The new Harbor project is only one piece in a larger Green Network that links public open space with waterfront amenities throughout the city. The design of the Keelung Harbor Terminal interposes this by providing continuous open space at the water’s edge. Terminal Halls emerge like prisms through the building’s green roof generating a condition that is both building and landscape. In this way, new urban developments and public spaces can grow without displacing natural recreational land. By maintaining this continuity of the network, the waterfront and the Port Terminal development will be within easy reach of many residents in the central city.

多元性 COMPLEXITY

本建築物的三個主要結構體,以一種如同大陸板塊互相磨擦的關係,創造出能同時容納公眾休憩、交通運輸以及工業生產等活動多元共存的可能性。我們在建築手法上的一項策略,是環繞著辦公大樓、旅運中心、以及貨物儲運區,創造出一個具有活動可滲透性、且效率最大化的開放架構。在運輸動線方面,將安排規劃平行於港邊的一條大型帶狀運輸區域。依上下船不同的方向,將到港與離港的交通做帶狀區分,以達到最大效率;同時,藉由區分辦公大樓與貨物的出入動線,以符合實用需求的可行性。

The tripartite structure of the buildings rub against each other like continental shelves making it possible for the complex of public, transit and industrial activities to coexist.This is one architectural strategy: to create a permeable, open architecture of maximum efficiency encompassing the tower, terminal and cargo storage. Parallel to the harbor, transit is organized by one large band. Split arrival and departure bands organize traffic to and from the ships with maximum efficiency; while separate tower and cargo access ensure utilitarian viability.

地標 LANDMARK

做為一個地標,本建築物的造型避免使用過於容易落入刻板分類的形式窠臼,充分運用與實用主義、工業化、空間詩意一脈相承的語彙,創造自由聯想的空間。換言之,本案在追求最高藝術性的同時,亦結合了最大程度的效率性。本案第二個建築元素,海港大樓,它的入口空間在提供廣場與交通穿越的同時,也為城市提供空間架構的定義,創造了令人清晰辨識的城市地標。因為本案的區位與座落,大樓的形象清楚地在幾何關係上呼應了本地的山坡地形與交通網絡。建築物的長向立面,沿著陸地-海洋的軸線,面對正北方,建立起海港與城市之間一個樞紐的角色。我們刻意將座向朝東傾斜五度,讓建築物的主立面因天光與水色的映照,與環境融為一體。我們希望本案能成為台灣一座具有全球視野的門戶,象徵著本地的文化進步,創新活力,以及蓬勃的現代化商業發展。

To become a landmark, this project adopts a form that resists easy classification to free-associate with successive symbols of the utilitarian, the industrial, the poetic. It combines maximum artistry with maximum efficiency. A second architectural element, the Harbor Tower, is a clearly identifiable landmark. It’s portal becomes a framing devise for the city while providing passage for the plaza. Given it’s location and placement, the figure of the tower takes a geometrical stand in relation to the mountains and transit network. Oriented to true north with the widest elevation on the Land-Sea Axis, the tower is literally the hinge between harbor and city. Tilting five degrees eastward, the buildings broadest facades dematerialize into reflections of water or sky. A global gateway, the tower represents Taiwan’s cultural progress, innovation, and modern commerce.

24小時廣場 24 HOUR PLAZA

一個沿著水岸邊提高,24小時開放的海洋廣場是創造這個案子活力的重要元素,它同時也提供購物、用餐及休閒等活動在此發生的機會。更重要的,只有打通這個關鍵性的公共活動通道,增強及維持週期性的航運碼頭使用與港口商業,才能確保旅運中心持續性的經濟活動力。這個位於主要屋頂柱結構之間的多功能區域,提供了多元性公共設施的使用空間,包括零售業,餐飲業,展示以及停車空間等。

An essential component to the vitality of the project is the proposed elevated marine plaza along the waterfront, a 24 hour space that fosters shopping, dining, and recreation. Moreover, connection to this vital public conduit will ensure the continuous economic viability of the port terminal, by amplifying and supplementing cyclical maritime uses of the cruise terminal and harbor business. Located within the roof’s prismatic volumes, this multi-use area hosts public facilities such as retail, dining, exhibition and park spaces.

第三項建築策略,包括旅運中心的單一大型屋頂。它可以傳達當人們群聚在空間中,集體呈現的一種姿態。我們以地景式的建築,一體包容了旅運中心間的公共空間以及過渡空間。可以想像這座巨大屋頂,以及它所投射出來的細緻交織光影;無論晴雨,都能提供人們舒適的戶外空間。A third architectural strategy involves the large terminal roof, which expresses the collective gesture of people gathering together. A landform architecture unifying public, interstitial spaces between terminal zones. Conceived as a filigreed structure that casts intricate patterns of light and shadow, the roof provides pleasant outdoor areas regardless of rain or shine.

三個港口 HYBRID TERMINAL

本案所選取的主題 -「綜合樓」- 反應了台灣當代的理想、野心及不同於平時所見的文化。客運大樓上的多角形量體設計照亮了出境廳、國內廳及國際聽。此設計可在不同樓層間投射不同的光線,同時在樓層間製造出不同於上一個樓層的景象。國際廳與國內廳間的海洋廣場延伸式設計將戶外景色帶進了大樓內。不管是客運大樓室內或是屋頂夾樓,都以「將戶外景色延伸至室內」為設計原則。該設計同時適合了客運大樓裡外的各項活動及作業。為了在戶外設置連續、不間斷的人行道,本案設計連續性獨立動線的高架廣場。針對郵輪的旅客,各客運間將有安全空間,以確保乘客安全。本案欲設計一個功能區塊分明,並充滿活力的客運大樓。準建築人手札愛你唷

Its chosen theme, A Mixing Chamber, reflects Taiwan’s contemporary ambition: its different cultures – the users of the terminal – embarking on a unified future. A collection of prisms crown the terminal’s Departure, Domestic and International Halls with luminous vaulted spaces. Cutting diagionally through the terminal platform, multiple relations between the concourse level and other levels of the building are established, while always permitting new angles of vision and a changing play of light. Derived from the interstial space between the Domestic and International Halls, the Marine Plaza projects inward bringing the outside in. The interiors of the terminal and the roof mezzanine are designed as hybrid spaces, not only blurring the boundaries between exterior and interior, but which also easily adapt to the variable program. Existing public pedestrian flows along the western edge are enhanced, rather than interrupted by creating a continuous elevated public plaza adjacent to the concourse with independent circulation. Cruise functions, meanwhile, are located on all 3 levels yet kept distinct to maintain secure areas for departing and arriving passengers. Overall, an experience of directed yet functionally separated flows lends an aura of energy to the terminal building.

SUSTAINABLE STRUCTURAL MATERIALS

In choosing materials and construction installation techniques, local material sourcing which minimizes transportation is the aim. The waterfront location enables materials to be transported by barges directly to the construction site. This method of transportation produces a carbon footprint up to 10x less than other modes of material transportation such as trucking.

STEEL

A holistic approach is incorporated into the projects structural design, which assesses the life-cycle of each material selection and structural system in conjunction with other energy strategies, such as thermal mass. The current framing scheme for both the terminal and tower are assemblies of structural steel with composite metal deck and concrete. Structural steel framing results in a lighter structure than a concrete solution, requiring less material in the foundation. In addition, structural steel components will be specified using the highest percentage of recycled content. Finally, the steel framing can be detailed to utilize bolted assemblies that reduce on-site construction labor and allow for possible deconstruction or facilitate future building adaptation.

清水混凝土

清水混凝土用於基礎結構與樓版將考慮減碳促進環保以及永續。水泥材料(CCM)為碳中性的飛灰,礦渣水泥,矽粉,超細礦物等工業副產品。如其他混凝土預製版梁產品,將被評估為加快建設,減少非基地製造之浪費及現場廢棄物。

CONCRETE

Concrete used for foundations and topping slabs in the steel-framed areas will consider ways to reduce carbon impact. Complementary cementing materials (CCM) such as fly ash, slag cement, silica fume, and ultrafine minerals are industrial by-products and considered carbon neutral. Other concrete products such as precast planks, beams and bubble-deck systems will be evaluated for expediting construction over the water, reducing waste for off-site manufacturing instead ofon-site cast concrete systems, and eliminating formwork wastes.

結構系統 TOWER STRUCTURE

主塔之結構由連繫各柱間之H型鋼所形成之構架為主。柱距9m之柱與柱之間正交,在外側表面,斜柱則平行於量體之脊線。塔構頂部30m之懸臂量體則由跨層、雙向之桁架系統所組成。該雙向桁架亦負責懸掛內/外側之吊柱,將載重傳遞至主結構。兩層高之X型斜撐(BRB)分布於電梯與結構核,則用來抵抗地震及風力等側向力。

Structurally, the tower is comprised of a composite steel framing scheme of wideflange beams and girders spanning along a column grid that supports composite slabs. The W-flange 9 m column grid aligns orthogonally with the elevator core while along the tower perimeter, columns slope parallel to the face of the building. The upper tower 30m cantilever is supported by an external diagrid in conjunction with a floor-to-floor, two-way truss system at the top level of the building. The twoway
truss carry interior and exterior hanging columns which transfer loads to the external diagrid. Double height x-braces located in the elevator and stair core resist seismic and wind forces.

結構設計之要點,在於確認結構系統及破壞機制,結構系統需簡潔清楚,使傳力路徑明確。而破壞機制則在定義當結構承受巨大外力時,其可能之破壞行為及順序。其最高原則在於「小震不壞,中震可修,大震不倒」,以降低震災時人員、財產之損失。結構設計以符合安全、經濟、有效為原則,而本案之設計係依據最新建築技術規則及美國ACI、AISC、UBC規範,作為建築物耐震結構之應力分析、強度計算及配筋計算。

本案可分為合署辦公大樓及海運客貨中心 :

1. 合署辦公大樓:本區域建築規模為地上20樓/地下2樓,主要由南北兩棟主樓組成,南北棟分別由基地兩側向天際線延伸,於16F~20F結合為一完整結構。為滿足超高層結構之強度需求,結構設計上以”桿件輕量化”、”結構合理化”為主要考量之因素,因此規劃採用鋼結構抗彎矩構架系統(SMRF)配合鋼構斜撐(BRB system)作為垂直力及側向力系統。
2. 海運客貨中心:
海運客貨中心為地上3F/地下2層,採用鋼造韌性抗彎矩構架系統配合RC剪力牆組成之二元系統,以抵抗垂直力、地震力及風力。

The essential of structural design is to define proper failure mechanism as expected. Structural system should be designed to be simple and clear to confirm efficient load transfer. No collapses should be allowed even at maximum-expected earthquake. Local building codes, ACI Code, UBC Code and other references are used for building detail calculation. There are two main occupancy for this project , office (Main Tower) and shipping center(Terminal Building).

1.The Office Tower is 20 floors above ground and 2 basement floors, divided into two portions - North and South tower. The two portions join together at 16F~20FL, to achieve a complete and stable structural system. In order to fulfill the high-strength demand of this tower, providing “Less self-weight” and a “Rational structural system” is key to the design. A dual system combine with Ductile Moment Frame (SMRF) and Ductile brace (BRB), is employed for this project to withstand gravity and lateral loads.
2.The Terminal Building is 3 floors above ground and 2 basement floors, SMRF and RC Sheer Wall is used for this project to withstand gravity and lateral loads.
