By Sam Gutelle • 11/28/2022 •There wasn’t much competition at the front of this week’s U.S. Top 50. Even if the leading channel in the chart had its viewership chopped in half, it still wouldn’t fall more than one spot.
Despite that gap, four of the top five channels from last week are still in the upper echelon of our star-spangled ranking.

Chart Toppers

The only American YouTube destination that didn’t get doubled up by Cocomelon belongs to magician Justin Flom. Since porting his videos over from TikTok, Flom has become one of the big breakout YouTube Shorts stars of 2022. Flom moved all the way up to #2 in the U.S. Top 50 after snagging 381 million weekly views. It’s not sleight of hand: He’s claimed two billion lifetime views on YouTube.
The battle for third place in the U.S. Top 50 came down to a difference of fewer than one million views. Ultimately, Kids Diana Show outlasted its competition to hold onto the #3 ranking after it was the U.S. runner-up seven days ago. The family vlog recorded 332.2 million weekly views at the end of November. Its contemporaries Vlad and Niki and Like Nastya were both out of the top five this week.
Another YouTube Shorts hub joined Justin Flom in the U.S. top five. Mr DegrEE supplies hacks for schoolchildren who are looking to sneak various objects into class. That formula brought 331.6 million weekly views to the short-form hub, which allowed it to move up two spots from its previous chart position.
Last week’s #4, D Billions, dropped one spot to round out this week’s U.S. top five. The colorful channel, which has been productive all year long, added 257.3 million views to its lifetime total this week.
Top Gainers
The U.S. Men’s National Team is back in the World Cup for the first time in eight years, and the global event has brought football fever to American shores. YouTube has unveiled some official soccer stars for the quadrennial tournament, but channels across the platform are benefiting from renewed interest in The Beautiful Game.
One of those beneficiaries is Galinho FC. The sports-themed hub claimed the final spot in the U.S. Top 50 this week, thanks in large part to its activity on YouTube Shorts. The most-watched Galinho videos may not run for more than a minute, but they’re full of highlights nonetheless. The channel shares some pieces of football history by sharing some of the sport’s most memorable moments.
When I say “memorable,” I don’t necessarily mean “good.” Here’s one of many “funny” supercuts from Galinho:

That video, with its 48 million views, has paced Galinho FC to its best-ever week on YouTube. Of the 446 million lifetime views the channel has received, 95.4 million of those views came during our most-recent seven-day measurement period. That represented a 24% week-over-week increase that allowed Galinho to sneak into the Top 50.
Digital rights for soccer highlights can be notoriously difficult to manage, so we’ll see how long Galinho’s compilations are able to stay up. The channel keeps its videos short and sweet, and that sound work in its favor going forward.
